Fellow wingers:
Once again, your district team has been challenged with making tough decisions. With over 200 wildfires burning in our beautiful province we are being prudent, as well as being fully mindful of the health and welfare of our membership, we are cancelling the Wings in the Cariboo Ride.
Personally, I am disappointed as I know we are all feeling a little hemmed in right now, with Southern, Northern, and Eastern destinations being out of bounds. The safety of our membership is foremost in our minds as well as the fact that is just really uncomfortable riding through and sitting around in a smoke-filled atmosphere.
As your district director I feel, that we do not want to become part of the problem by being in the area, taking valuable Hotel room space required by Fire Crews. We should be part of the solution, which means staying away and allowing the professionals to get on with their jobs without us impeding them by our presence in the area.
If you have registered for this ride you must call the hotel to cancel your reservations at the Days Inn (778-482-5255) as well as the Super 8 (844-733-1468) in 100 Mile House ASAP.
Stayed tuned for further updates…we may resurrect the ride in Autumn this year.
