Weekly Update…April 9th

Hi Everybody,

I am sitting here in front of my computer recovering from today’s ARC. A little stiff from today’s activities, but thankful for the group of volunteers (instructors) we have that take their time off on a weekend to freely spend it with us to help us become better/safer riders. You know who you are – you are part of this email list. Thanks a bunch for all that you do.

Another thankyou goes out to Amarjit, our assistant Chapter Director and newly appointed assistant District Director for arranging the classroom and parking lot for the course, as well as the super lunch you organized. Well done!

For those of you that were not able to take the course, we are taking names for a waiting list for another course to be held at a later date. The ARC in Chilliwack is also full as of now, so the waiting list is growing.

Now that the weather has seemed to turn towards warmer temperatures and daylight savings time has kicked in, it is time to start concentrating on more ride events. Last week we had a great turnout for our Tuesday evening coffee get together. 8 or 9 members showed up for coffee, but only about 3 of us actually went for a ride. That will change as the weather warms up some more and we get a few more hours of riding time in the evenings. Tuesday evening coffee meets at the Tim Horton’s/A&W on Glenlyon Parkway in south Burnaby between 5:00 and 7:00PM with a ride after depending on weather.

Our Saturday/Sunday/Holiday morning breakfast/coffee rides are seeing more members coming out as well. If you have the itch to get out and ride with a great group of guys/gals, here is your chance. We meet every Saturday/Sunday and holidays at the Tim Horton’s/A&W on Glenlyon Parkway in south Burnaby at 9:00AM. Right now, kickstands are up at 10:00, but that will change as we get into longer days and longer rides.

Since there is not an official chapter breakfast meet this month, Giselle and I have booked the meeting room at the ABC Restaurant in Coquitlam for the evening of Thursday, April 28th (6:00 to 9:00PM) for a dinner meeting. Due to the fact that we missed out on having a large 40th Anniversary celebration back in 2020 due to the pandemic, we will be celebrating our 42nd year as a chapter in GWRRA – the first and oldest chapter in Canada. A registration page will be available shortly on the chapter website so we can supply the restaurant with an approximate number of guests.

Thank you all for your participation and support for all that GWRRA stands for.

Dave and Giselle

Chapter Directors,

GWRRA BC-A
