Hi Everybody,
Happy New Year! I hope everybody had a safe, enjoyable holiday season. Now that the festivities have wound down, we can start looking ahead and planning for the upcoming riding season, but first we need to get through this darn pandemic!
We have confirmed with the ABC Restaurant in Coquitlam that we can still hold our breakfast meeting on January 15th, barring any more government restrictions. The private room is set up for 24 people (4 tables of 6) and based on attendance levels in the past, that should be enough seats so we can all be properly socially distanced (note to Ian – hugging might be frowned upon 😊). As per regulations, every one that attends must show proof of vaccinations. This is not new and we have been doing it for months, but if you are not comfortable with group events, we respect your decision to not attend, but you will be missed.
Our own Amarjit Dhadwar has stepped up to be considered for the position of Director for our North West Coast District. He has full support from Kevin Bramhoff, however it is up to GWRRA Director Jere Goodman to make the appointment. The district team is hoping for a quick decision so that the planning of district wide events, such as the 2022 Wings in the Cariboo Rally, district ride events, ARC’s and other training can proceed. With Amarjit’s enthusiasm, business background, and leadership skills, and with the support of the entire district team, all events should be able to go ahead as planned.
Giselle and I are looking forward to retiring (from work) and have announced that we will be stepping down as Chapter Directors at the end of the 2022 riding season. While we have thoroughly enjoyed the past 4 years, we feel that it is time for a more energetic and enthusiastic couple to step up and provide leadership for this family of dedicated riders. You are not getting rid of us this easily – we will always be available for, and active with, Chapter BC-A, Vancouver.
The chapter ride calendar has been posted. You can view it at the chapter website (https://cnmra.ca/vancouver/2022-ride-schedule/), or you can download and print it if you wish. All events are subject to revision depending on weather – you will be notified of changes via email.
As much as it pains us, the Gypsy Sister’s Ride has once again been postponed for another year as there is just too much uncertainty around travelling south of the border – thanks COVID! The District Ride Coordinator, Tony Brooks, is working on a northern BC/Alberta ride to fill in the spot. The details will be out soon, so stay tuned.
Dave and Giselle
Chapter Directors,
GWRRA BC-A
