Chapter Director Message – September 2021

It looks like fall is arriving early this year. The temperatures have cooled down, we have some rain, and the interior fires are under control. All good news!

Last Sunday we attended the Chapter C GreenHeart fundraiser. It was a great success with many members participating. Thank you to all that attended and to all the volunteers that helped make it a successful event.

We welcomed several new members into the chapter (again) – Prem Singh and Neil Brach. Thank you to Amarjit for inviting them! Please welcome them as part of the GW family. Remember, if you sign up three new members, your next year’s membership fees are free!

We had 19 members out for our August breakfast. Patrick Frampton won the 50/50 draw. Thanks to all those that attended.

And now for the bad news – Ricky’s Country Restaurant on Boundary Road will be closing its doors forever on September 30th. They were not able to renew the lease and must shut down. Our last breakfast meeting will be on September 19th. The manager, Dave Moffat, has been involved with serving our Chapter for over 25 years in several restaurants he has managed. We will have to find another venue and it will not be easy, but several options have come forth already and we will be discussing them with you all shortly.

COMING UP:

  • Our normal Saturday and Sunday coffee meet and ride from McDonalds on Boundary – 8:00AM with kickstands up about 9:00. Earlier if members want a long ride somewhere.
  • Our normal Tuesday coffee meet and ride on Annacis Island at the Wendy’s/Tim Hortons – 5:30 or so till 7:00 or so…
  • September 18-19 – District Vancouver Island Ride
  • September 19th – Breakfast meeting at Ricky’s Restaurant on Boundary Rd – 7:30AM – 9:00AM with a planned ride after.
